Craft in Home Design

Lucky is the city dweller with a backyard garden in his small apartment in the city. With dwelling space now at a premium, gardens have become a casualty in many downsized apartments that cater only to the basic needs of an income-challenged urbanite.  Backyards, if you have one at all, are better reserved for laundry purposes and front lawns have become a rarity.

But among the lucky ones, getting the small patch of earth to re-create the wonders of Mother Nature that not only beautifies but provides an olfactory upliftment is often just a matter of knowing the right botanical species to plant and the patience to nurture them. You can visit excellent horticulture or gardening sites like Brighter Blooms Nursery to know your options. Just looking at their pictures of the Encore Azalea, Royal Empress Tree, Purple Wisteria, and Knockout Roses is enough to imagine them creating a most rewarding plantilla on your little would-be garden.

For small gardens, you can safely rule out any shade and fruit bearing trees that will just eat up your garden when fully matured.  It’s also important to take stock of your schedule to ensure that some gardening work can be squeezed in.  Your best bets are low-maintenance flowering plants and perennials.  No need to plant from seedlings as the nurseries of Brighter Blooms ensure that their plants can take root in your soils and have been nurtured to resist pests and plant diseases, so you won’t need to spray treat them with chemicals. Getting your plants from them takes away much of the typical gardening chores for the same plant species.
